13 Comfort Food Recipes for Glowing Skin

Hello Beauties!

Today I wanted to share my favorite comfort food recipes that are packed full of nutrition AND will help your skin glow especially in these winter months. One of my secrets to glowing skin and feeling good is that I make food that tastes GOOD. Just because it is healthy doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy it! Food is meant to be enjoyed just as much as it is meant to heal! comfort food recipes

So here we go! My top 13 comforting recipes to help you relax, glow and nourish your body from the inside out!
  1. Sunflower Salmon – Sexy Food Therapy  – This nutrient dense packed recipe is so comforting and great for the skin as salmon is packed full of omega 3’s.  This recipe was created by Melissa Ramos to help balance your hormones and nothing helps your skin glow more than by focusing on balancing your hormones. This is also a great option if you are going off the pill (or you are still on it) and want to make sure your body is being fed b-vitamins as the pill can delete your body of these nutrients.
  2. Nourishment Bowls Made with Love! –  I love nourishment bowls because they are so easy and they provide variety in a simple way! All you need are some veggies, protein, fats, maybe carbs, and a dressing! voila! Check out my post where I show how to make your own custom nourishment bowl or download the 1 Day Detox for Glowing Skin by Tomorrow where I share my favorite glow bowl recipe!buddha bowl
  3. Sweet Potatoes Avocado Toast – Sweet potatoes and avocados are the best comfort foods and the BEST for your skin. Sweet Potatoes are packed full of vitamin A and the fats from the avocado help you absorb all the nutrients from the food you are eating. Plus fat keeps your full and hormones balanced, and your skin an extra glow! Check and check!sweet potato avocado toast

4. Chicken and Sweet Potato Breakfast Bowl  – Fed and Fit – I love breakfast bowls because I cannot eat eggs anymore. 🙁 But I don’t miss them ONE bit when I get to eat amazing creations like this!  And this one by Cassy Joy is AMAZING. I love the simple to make lemon dill sauce. It is the perfect balance of greens, sweet potatoes, and chicken to fill you up and the sauce ties it all together so perfectly! She has 2 other delectable looking breakfast bowls that I haven’t tried but look just as amazing. Go check them out!

5. The Best Detox Crockpot Lentil Soup – Pinch of Yum THIS WAS SO DELISH! – I cannot believe that I used to not like lentils or butternut squash. If you don’t think you can like something new, try it again! This soup is so comforting and nourishing.  And I like to top this with a dash of pale ale honey mustard. (might sound weird haha but I like odd combos) I like to eat this soup when I feel like I have been eating too much animal protein or I know my body needs a break from it.  The lentils provide just enough protein to keep you full and energized.

6. Salsa Verde Chicken –  Balanced Bites – This is such a FLAVORFUL crockpot recipe. I have had a lot of crockpot recipes that just taste “blah” and I love the flavor this one has. It is perfect for making Mexican tacos and even your own Mexican bowl! (See my nourishment bowl post) This recipe also makes a big batch so you can use it easily use all week long! Or freeze half of it and save for a busy week! All in all I love batch cooking because then I don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen every night.

7. Glowing Skin Pumpkin Smoothie – I love this shake because well I love pie. And during this time of the year, I crave pie all season long. “You want a piece of pie? Yes please!”  It is so hard to turn down!!  Definitely try this shake to satisfy your pumpkin pie cravings and still keep your skin glowing!pumpkin shake

8. Curry Roasted Cauliflower and Fennel – Paleomg – Cauliflower is such a great cruciferous vegetable and definitely a great one to add into your diet! They help balance out the body by getting rid of excess estrogen.  This is common problem especially if you have been on the pill and are currently wanting to get off. Most pills have estrogen in them as well as many beauty products, plastics, etc contain estrogenic like qualities. A common sign of high estrogen is extra weight in the thighs and abdomen so clearing it out of the body is very important!

9. Carrot Autumn Squash Soup – Glowing Fridge – I love orange foods because they make me feel extra GLOWilicious (yes i went there) and this soup is no exception because it is all orange. It is very comforting and the perfect fall soup.

10. Mexican Red Lentil Soup – Budget Bytes  – Another great lentil soup that is super comforting and has a great nutty taste! This one uses red lentils instead which taste more nutty. This a perfect blend of Mexican spices and great for any day in the winter months.mexican lentil soup

11. Paleo Nacho Cheese Fed and Fit This isn’t really a meal, but it makes an amazing appetizer that will WOW your friends.  I love this recipe because it is SO easy! There are many other variations out there of this recipes that use cashews or beans, but I like just using a sweet potato because I always have them on hand!  If you wanted to use this for a meal, you could use this to make Paleo Nachos or pair with your favorite Mexican dish!

12. Salmon Tacos – Cooking Classy  I am posting another salmon recipe because salmon is just too good for your skin. <3 Plus this recipe is THE best! (even my BF liked it!) I really loved the flavor as it made the tacos just pop! I just made the salmon fillets in the oven first and then piled on all the taco goodness! Heck you could even pile on the Paleo Nacho Cheese ^^ from the recipe above.

13. Vegan Chocolate Silk Pie – Minimalist Baker I had to add ONE dessert to this list! No sugar isn’t great for the skin, but the other ingredients are! This pie is loaded with protein from the tofu and healthy fats from the nuts.  It is very rich so you only need a small piece, and the no dairy and no gluten will leave you feeling MUCH better than if it had all that in there as well. I am excited to make this again for the Holiday season coming up! vegan chocolate pie
