How to Overcome Overwhelm and Reach your Goals
Hello Lovelies!!
Recently, my goal is to focus on consistency and sometimes that means I won’t be inspired to take action. My job is to just show up and see what flows. So here I am writing…and this had me wondering – What is the line between forcing something that isn’t meant to be? And moving forward with action and trusting that inspiration will come?
So here I am writing….. 🙂
How to Overcome Overwhelm and Reach your Goals
Overwhelm is something I struggle with quite often and I know if I deal with it so do other people. I want to share a bit about how I stop myself from feeling overwhelm. Overwhelm can turn a positive feeling to negative. It is one of the biggest ways that we self-sabotage ourselves.
Here are a few ways that overwhelm has sabotaged me:
- Working as fast as possible on multiple tasks and not feeling good about the completion of any of the tasks.
- Unsure of where to start and where to prioritize my money and my time so both ends up getting wasted.
- Feeling deeply upset at how little I accomplished and how my time was spent mostly anxious and uptight.
Overwhelm is a problem. It is one way that we sabotage our happiness. It can turn our excitement and ambition into fear and panic.
I wanted to talk about this because I think it happens quite often especially in our world today. The options that abound us are ENDLESS. We can read 100’s if not 1000s of books. There is a new activity to participate in every single night. The multiple topics to learn. We have endless options on how we reach our physical, mental, spiritual, and career goals!
The number of opportunities in our hands is truly astounding and we are so blessed that we have so much. But with the blessings of abundance, comes the pain of indecision and overwhelm….Where do we start?? What do we do??
And indecision is the worst. The WORST feeling to stay stuck in. And choosing NOT to decide is a decision by itself.
Give yourself time limits to research. Obviously, there are cases where a big decision might take time and that’s understandable. But sometimes we waste away time on researching every single little detail to make the “perfect” choice. Or we just don’t decide at all because it sounds too exhausting. (And I get it because IT IS exhausting to research everything)
If this is something you struggle with or have anxiety about, I challenge you to implement 3 new beliefs into your soul.
-
You cannot mess up your life.
Decisions are hard because you are afraid of completing messing up your life. But I don’t think this is possible. By believing this thought, you are throwing away your power. You are telling yourself that you are powerless human being and you have a chance to “mess up” your life and wake up full of regret. Our soul was created to know the exact path we were meant to follow, every choice, every mistake is only to help you. Nothing you do can “mess up your life”. If you aren’t happy with the direction you are going in, re-route. That path was only taken to show you where you should go next.
-
Follow only what lights you up.
I think this is the easiest way to know if you are in the right direction with how you spend your time and energy. After college or even high school, you realize how much pressure was on you to live and do what everyone else is doing. You follow the similar paths and try to do all the things to stay at the same level. But this doesn’t serve anyone especially if it doesn’t excite you. Ignore everyone else, stop caring what people think, and just go after what lights you up inside. The decision might not make any sense to the rest of the world, but if it feels good to you. It is right.
-
Block out the noise.
To me the point of mediating is to quiet out the rest of the world. Our world is extra noisy. We have social media that can be absorbed 24/7 and all the information we could want at our fingertips. It is VERY addicting. Where is the time to sit with ourselves and enjoy the quiet?? It doesn’t happen. This is one reason that mediating has become so popular. Our body and mind craves the quiet. We have a voice inside of us that is begging for us to listen to it. And it is so easy to ignore because of all the distractions. Have you ever felt super anxious and overwhelmed by all the noise?? I believe this anxiety is one way our body is trying to get our attention saying. “Hey slow down a bit, I have something I want to tell you.” Not all the answers can be found in a book. Trust the power that you hold inside of you. Slow down and listen to what comes up for you. Journaling can be a great way to connect with yourself if you like to write, let your thoughts just flow…
Overwhelm can be a painful place to be in, but ultimately the choice is up to us to stay in overwhelm. One of my past business coaches would remind us that we can choose to be in a place of overwhelm or we can choose to believe that overwhelm is not an option. This is something that has stayed with me and continues to remind me that it is a choice to let overwhelm stop us.
Post a comment below and let me know how you have overcome overwhelm! I can’t wait to hear! <3

7 years agoI can overwhelm and multi-task myself into a tizzy! Turning off my e-mail notifications help. I also don’t take my phone or laptop into the bedroom at night. It charges in the living room. I allow myself my kindle and my journal at night. Instant focus.
