My Exact Process to Clear the Skin.
Let’s face it. We would all love if our skin was perfect for the rest of our life, but that isn’t realistic. It seems that my skin gets messed up right before a big event or during travel so I am always prepared! And I want everyone to have an action of how to move forward and start the healing process for glowing skin!
Here is a look at my behind the scenes process of how to clear the skin:
- Eat a Balanced Nutrient Dense Meal
I try to always look forward and do what I can to accelerate healing. I make sure to eat a super nutrient dense meal packed with greens, healthy fats, protein, and veggies. This is a simple way to just start to feel better and then let go and trust that your body is healing. Once your skin breakouts, it is a bit out of your control. So instead of over-stressing,I make the best choice I can and move on with my day!
2. Make sure my Blood Sugar is Balanced
#1 is eating a good nutrient dense meal, but I want to make sure my blood sugar stays stable all day. I prepare by making sure I have a snack or getting snacks if I don’t have any. If my blood sugar gets too low, my skin will stop healing and it might even get worse. So I do my best to prioritize having readily available food so I don’t get hangry. I also make sure I eat 3 full nutrient dense meals.
3. Ice my Breakouts
Once my food is squared away, I focus on what I can do on the outside. Acne is excessive heat in the body, so I use ice to help cool my face down. I like to make my own ice pack with a Ziploc bag and some ice cubes. Then I hold it up to my cysts to promote blood flow and healing. This might not do much, but I feel proactive and it feels nice. Usually I do see decreased redness which is great. Try it at your own risk.
4. Go for a Quick Walk.
Ideally, you want to sweat out the toxins. But if you don’t have time for hot yoga or full workout, just go for a quick walk. This will get the lymph moving which is part of the immune system that will fight off the acne. The fresh air will support healing and if you can get some sun, the vitamin D will boost the immune system too. Heck, I noticed significant improvement in my skin by getting a bit of sun each day. It’s no joke, the sun is a magical healing life force.
5. Tea Tree Oil
Next, I end the day with a full hydrating and cleansing skin care route. And number one, I always use tea tree oil aka melaleuca. It is tones and kills bacteria on the skin which causes the breakout. I just put a few drops on the palm of my hand and rub directly on my face. You may want to dilute, but my skin handles it just fine. I use Doterra EO. I notice an overnight reduction in redness and my cysts shrink! I highly recommend!!
6. Skin Hydration Routine
After the tea tree oil, I finalize my night skin prep by hydrating the skin. I used to just strip my facial oils by using toners and drying face masks. I never used moisturizer and I would fall asleep with masks on. My skin was oilier at 16, but if I could go back, I would have told myself to try what I am doing now. Oddly enough, my skin breakouts when I use drying masks now…so maybe that was the problem all along.
My favorite mask is from the Sense line it is so hydrating and not drying one bit. Unfortunately, it is discontinued☹. And I have not tried the mask they replaced it with. After the mask, I lather on coconut oil. I notice such a big difference in the size of my cysts by the next morning!! I always use coconut oil when my skin breakouts out, but not daily because of the mess. Typically, I hydrate my skin at night with the Beauty Counter Counter Match Recovery Cream. And that is it! That is my simple skin hydration routine.
And that is exactly what I do to clear up my skin! I also like to review my lifestyle, food choices, take supplements and focus on my gut healing, but mostly I try to move on and get my skin back to normal by using the strategies I listed above. I do what I can and then I let go. We cannot control our body and stressing about it doesn’t do any good.
