What I am Loving Right Now {Wellness Faves}
This is a What I am Loving Post! Currently, I am writing an Ayurveda 101 post which is much more information packed so it is taking a bit of time. Instead I thought this week, I would share a bit of my favorites things right now and what I am doing in my personal life!
Let’s get started:
Pique Tea – Since embarking on my gut healing journey, I cut coffee and went back on the tea. When I found this company, I HAD to try it and I was so impressed that it is now the only tea I want to drink. I feel so energized when I drink it! I can tell how clean and purified it is and the flavor is WOW. My favorite is the jasmine green tea. It has such a strong flower-y flavor that makes me feel like I am in Japan. If you ever get a chance to try this tea, I highly recommend. I drink 1-2 cups of it every day!! The addition is real!
Tahini –Recently all I want to eat is middle eastern food. I love the flavors and its SO satisfying. I love using tahini to cover on my oatmeal or make a spicy tahini lemon dressing to coat over my steamed vegetables! I love the versatility for both sweet and savory dishes. And tahini is essential while I am trying to make my own middle eastern food at home! You can also use tahini to substitute in nut butter desserts! Check out my tahini banana bread right here!
Chickpeas –All I want to eat are chickpeas upon chickpeas!! Chickpeas provide an astringent flavor which is very drying in the body. Chickpeas are great at balancing out excess “Pitta” which is an energy in the body that can cause redness or acne. I can tell my body needs more light and drying foods right now as it is also summer time and eating heavy foods doesn’t match the season of the summer! I love putting canned chickpeas in salads for extra protein, but I also love this gf chickpea pasta. It is made of only 1 ingredient chickpeas!! It tastes amazing and is by far my favorite GF pasta! Yum!!
HOT yoga – I am seriously addicted to yoga. It is my favorite way to workout. I love how my body feels so good afterwards and I am drenched in sweat. I love sweating because I can feel the toxins and emotions release from my body. Physically, it releases my aches and pains and any tension I am holding in the body. I can tell how healing yoga is to my body and how much my body needs it after sitting at a desk all day. I highly recommend yoga because it is something your body can do consistently every day to build strength and flexibility. Yoga is proof you don’t need to over-exert yourself to get results. This summer I signed up for CorePower Yoga and pushing myself to go 4-5 days a week! So far I am loving it!!
Sunshine – I love the sun. Is it weird I can tell that sitting in the sun boosts my immune system? My allergies get bad in the summer after not eating the best foods for my body aka alcohol, gluten, and dairy. When I go sit in the sun for a bit, my allergies typically calm down. With most of us spending our time inside at a desk, I honestly believe that most of us aren’t getting enough sun. The sun is our BEST source of vitamin D and so many of us are deficient and below optimal levels. Most of us don’t spend hours daily in the sun, so I think it is a bit silly to push the agenda that we need to fear the sun. Just like everything else we need a balance of all the elements to feel our best.
Perfect Bars – If you have never tried a perfect bar before – YOU MUST! I have only tried 2 flavors the vegan one and now this Chocolate Walnut Brownie. This one has plant-based protein in it. After my 90 days sugar free, my body does not crave sugar or chocolate at all, but sometimes I need some easy on-the go fuel. THIS IS IT!! I try to only eat real food and this bar fits that criteria. My body feels so nourished and energized and it tastes like heaven. You must try!
Getting Back to Happy by Marc and Angel – This book is so good. I am still in the middle of reading it, but it is exactly what my life needs right now. I am constantly trying to focus back to the basics on creating a blissful life. Every word is packed full of juicy inspiration that always enlightens me.
Here are a few of my favorite quotes:
“You are always good enough just the way you are, and you can grow stronger than you ever have been before.”
“Even if you are generally a happy person, neglecting yourself is a habit – or ritual–that can easily creep up on you.”
“Eventually you will realize that happiness is not the absence of problems, but simply the ability to deal with them well”
“Being angry and dramatic about something is easy. Doing something productive about it is the hard and worthwhile part”
“Work hard, but be flexible. The best moments are often unplanned, and the greatest regrets happen by not reaching exactly what as planned.”
As you can see, this book is packed full of nuggets of wisdom. These were just a few bite sized quotes that spoke to me. But I have so much of this book highlighted because I want to remember it all!
Reading True Stories – Typically, I lean towards self-help books because I am a #inspirationjunkie. But sometimes I get sick of it, because you can only learn and apply so much!!! So I have been diving back into real life stories and its been a great way for me to relax. I recently read this book by Chip and Joanna Gaines which was VERY inspiring. I highly recommend. Then the book I am currently reading is this book about Prince Harry. If you have any favorite true story books – share below! I would love to hear your faves!
Setting Simple Goals – I am all about setting realistic goals that I can integrate in my life. I have tried changing everything at once. And it never works…so I listen to the experts who say ONE THING at a time!! Right now, what is most important to me is writing. It is one of my happiness habits and I get anxiety if I don’t write. That is why this blog is still running and why I keep showing up. But I haven’t always been the best at writing everyday! So this summer, I am challenging myself to write daily for at least 15 minutes. Ideally, I am trying to get in the habit of doing this first thing in the morning, but as I practice fitting it in my life – I try to give myself grace to fit it in when I can. This goal isn’t all about the writing, but instead building trust in myself and learning how to be consistent. Two things that I know are essential for me to focus on.
That is a peek inside my life right now. 🙂 I hope you enjoyed reading this post and it inspired you to try new things. I would love to hear what some of your favorite things are right now! I love trying new products and setting new goals – so share one of yours below!
